Comprehensive CCTV Installation Project for Election 2018.
In the General Elections of 2018, we successfully undertook and completed a critical and large-scale project involving the installation of CCTV systems across 127 polling stations throughout Punjab. This project played a pivotal role in enabling the authorities to monitor and ensure the transparency, security, and smooth conduct of the election process.
Scope of Work
Polling Station Coverage:
We installed state-of-the-art CCTV systems in 127 polling stations across five tehsils in Punjab. Each polling station was equipped with eight high-definition cameras strategically mounted to provide full coverage of the premises.
Control Center Setup:
A centralized monitoring center was established in Sheikhupura, designed specifically for the Army and the District Commissioner (DC) office. This center allowed real-time vigilance and oversight of all polling stations in the network.
Technology Used
Optical Fiber & Wireless Point-to-Point Connectivity:
To ensure seamless and reliable communication between the polling stations and the monitoring center, we deployed a hybrid solution of optical fiber cabling and wireless point-to-point technology. This setup provided a robust and stable network for real-time video feeds and data transmission.
Power Backup Systems:
Each polling station was equipped with a UPS backup system to ensure uninterrupted operation of the CCTV systems, even during power outages. This was critical for maintaining consistent monitoring throughout the election day.
Integration and Monitoring
All 127 polling stations were interconnected with the monitoring center in Sheikhupura through an integrated network.
The centralized control room in the DC office allowed the authorities to monitor real-time feeds from every polling station, enabling them to oversee the election process from a single location.
Challenges and Execution
The most significant challenge of this project was the extremely tight deadline. We were given only six days to design, deploy, and operationalize the entire CCTV network, spanning multiple sites across five tehsils. Despite the time constraints, our team meticulously planned and executed the following steps:
Network Design and Planning: A detailed design for both the optical fiber and wireless network was completed in record time to accommodate the unique requirements of each polling station.
Rapid Deployment: Civil work, including cable laying and equipment installation, was completed across all sites within a few days.
Testing and Commissioning: Each system was thoroughly tested and commissioned to ensure flawless functionality before the election day.
Outcome
The project was completed within the stipulated six-day timeline, showcasing our ability to execute complex, time-sensitive projects efficiently.
The Army and DC office were able to monitor the entire election process in real time, ensuring security and transparency throughout the event.
The hybrid optical fiber and wireless network proved to be highly reliable, providing uninterrupted video feeds from all 127 polling stations.
This project highlights our expertise in deploying large-scale, mission-critical surveillance systems under challenging conditions. Our commitment to quality, precision, and timely delivery played a significant role in ensuring the success of this high-stakes initiative.
