Establishing a reliable and efficient communication backbone for the Long Haul Optical fiber Network.
In the Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme (K-4) project, our role began with designing a comprehensive underground optical fiber network to connect Keenjhar Lake (commonly known as Kalri Lake) in Thatta District, Sindh, to Karachi. This critical project was aimed at establishing a reliable and efficient communication backbone for the water supply infrastructure.
Our scope of work started with providing a detailed and comprehensive design, which included recommending the appropriate optical fiber cable, HDPE pipes, handholes, network switches, and other key components. We selected and supplied high-quality materials such as optical fiber cables, joint enclosures, patch panels, ODF (Optical Distribution Frame) boxes, and patch cords to ensure the robustness and reliability of the network.
The implementation phase involved not only provisioning but also the installation of the optical fiber cable. We carried out the underground cable pulling with a redundant path spanning a total of 205 kilometers. The network was designed to connect four critical stations between the Keenjhar Lake and Karachi sites, ensuring seamless communication and data transmission across the entire length of the project.
To ensure the success of the installation, we provided a detailed cable-pulling methodology and conducted a live demonstration for client approval before commencing the full-scale deployment. The methodology included efficient techniques for underground cable pulling, taking into account the challenging terrain and the project’s scale.
Our role extended beyond design and installation to ensuring that all components worked together harmoniously. This included laying the cables, installing HDPE pipes, and integrating the joint enclosures, patch panels, and ODF boxes into the network. The redundant network path was a critical aspect of the design, providing fail-safe connectivity in case of disruptions.
This project required meticulous planning, execution, and quality control to meet the client’s high standards. It showcased our expertise in large-scale optical fiber projects, reinforcing our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions for complex infrastructure projects. Through our efforts, we contributed significantly to the success of the K-4 project, ensuring that its communication infrastructure is both robust and future-ready.
